The Big Picture

When Cecilia Rana ’14 and Bhumika Regmi ’14, both natives of Khatmandu, began designing their own LEEP Project, the prospect of putting a lens onto the daily existences of the Dalit women, while also being of service to them, was a perfect fit. Under the guidance of their faculty mentor William Fisher, dean of graduate studies, who has done extensive research in Nepal, the two connected with two organizations — Empowering Dalit Women of Nepal (EDWON) and the Association of Dalit Women’s Advancement of Nepal (ADWAN) — to craft a project that allowed the Dalit women to tell their own stories.

LEEP (Liberal Education and Effective Practice) is Clark University’s pioneering model of education that combines a robust liberal arts experience with authentic engagement in the world and workplace.
